Classified School Employee Week March 9-14 – 03/09/09

Remember to take the time to honor a valued part of your school's staff during
Classified School Employee Week.
You can recognize these employees by placing posters and signs throughout
your school, present certificates during special assemblies or meetings, host a
special reception, and put up a public "THANK YOU" on school reader boards.
There are nearly 50,000 classified school employees throughout the state of
Washington, involved in many aspects of education our students. These
include:
• Paraeducators, who assist in the classroom and give one-on-one instruction
• Office staff , who are often the primary contact for parents and the community
• Cooks, who prepare nutritious meals for students and staff
• Custodians and maintenance workers, who clean and maintain school buildings
and facilities
• Security personnel and playground supervisor, who provide safe learning
environments
• Technicians, who maintain computers and other electronic equipment
• Bus drivers, who safely transport children to and from school
